What is the L2Skuf Classic 2.9 project?
It is a development project focused on recreating a stable, maintainable server core for the Lineage II Classic experience on Patch 2.9. I have full leaked 2.9 official files properly reverse-engineered in readable format and am recreating every piece of game content within Java capabilities.
Is the server based on Java or L2OFF (PTS)?
I am building the project in Java, using the leaked official Patch 2.9 (p166) files as the source of truth.
Why not just use the leaked sources?
The leaked sources still contain many issues that are difficult to fix. For example, Olympiad does not work correctly, which makes it difficult to find a Patch 2.9 server running L2OFF with a functional Olympiad. Every fix made to the L2OFF files is time-consuming and error-prone. Java gives me the flexibility to implement fixes and improvements more efficiently.
Why Patch 2.9 specifically?
Patch 2.9 captures the feel of the older chronicles and combines the mechanics I love: the demanding grind of C3, an Olympiad as important as it was in Interlude, and PvP mechanics reminiscent of Gracia and High Five. It brings together elements from several earlier eras before the transition to the Goddess of Destruction era.
When will the project be released?
I do not have a firm release date yet. My goal is to begin open beta by the end of this year and also launch an L2OFF server so everyone can compare the functionality. After the project reaches 100% completion, we will wipe the beta data and launch the full release on a new, stable, long-term server.
Will the server accept donations after launch?
As you may know, all my previous servers operated without donations. I believe in providing a great experience for everyone without relying on external financial support. At some point, I might add cosmetic cloaks and hats if the community wants to purchase them, but nothing more.
